Our faculty contribute positively to the SNHU community, engaging with students within their community of practice to demonstrate leadership. We seek qualified, fully-engaged, and diverse applicants, celebrating those from historically underrepresented groups. In particular, we seek experts in:

Teaching the craft of genre fiction writing, backed by both the history of genre and its conventions as well as situating it in the contemporary literary market
Traditional, independent, hybrid and digital models of book publication
The "business" side of writing, including industry experience in the publishing ecosystem (experience with agenting, editing, or publishing)
Professional writing outside of fiction novel publication, such as freelancing, copywriting, content writing, marketing, editing, or writing for digital spaces
Publishing in digital spaces, including positioning oneself as a marketable author to audiences via social media/other technological modalities
The best practices of online teaching in higher education
Use of current pedagogical technologies in an online learning platform
We are seeking Graduate level instructors to teach within our Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program .

We are accepting applications for all MFA Courses. Topics include:

Speculative: Sci-Fi and Fantasy

Minimum Qualifications

Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing strongly preferred. Consideration given to candidates possessing a Master's degree plus relevant industry experience and expertise.
Must have a published novel(s) in one of the following genres:
Speculative: Sci-Fi and Fantasy
Contemporary Fiction: Mystery/Suspense, Literary, and Drama
Young Adult
Teaching experience at postsecondary level (preference given to those with online teaching experience)

Instructor expectations

Instructors must be willing to provide a high level of student outreach and have the availability to connect with students, academic advisors and team leads on a frequent basis. Instructors in this course must also be engaging, offering an increased and innovative presence in the online classroom to best serve the student and facilitate student success. Instructors should expect to provide substantial student feedback and offer a quick turnaround on grades.

Responsibilities will include teaching assignments broken into 10-week terms (plus final grading), with a high level of curriculum facilitation and engagement with the student population. May include reviewing writing samples for student applicants to the program.

Candidates should have demonstrable teaching experience (with preference given to those with online teaching experience), an exemplary publication record, strong communication skills, and the ability to successfully work remotely. Technical proficiency with learning management systems is a plus. Candidates who display passion, practicality, positivity, qualities found in a successful mentor, and an approachable, collaborative demeanor are preferred.
