The University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer position in Creative Writing within the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. This position requires a strong record of teaching excellence in poetry writing and first year composition that demonstrates the ability to work with underrepresented students in developing their voice through the use of innovative pedagogies in writing. Additional experience teaching creative nonfiction is preferred. Successful candidates will also have experience working with literary journals. Experience teaching courses on spoken word poetry, the military experience and/or literary editing & publishing is a plus. We seek an active poet who is prepared and excited to work with diverse student populations, and interested in engaging with Tacoma's thriving communities in ways that further the institution's urban serving mission. This position supports both the creative writing and rhetoric & composition tracks in the Writing Studies major.

Full-time lecturers play a vital role in shaping this institution. Lecturers at UW Tacoma are expected to maintain active service records through participation in campus committees and/or in collaborative engagement with the community. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching and service.

Candidates must have, at a minimum, a master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in an appropriate field. This is a full-time, renewable position with an appointment term of one to five years with an annual nine-month service period from September to June.
