The Faculty are seeking to appoint a Lector in Spanish (Career Development Post). Two posts are available. This vacancy is designed as a career development post, it is envisaged that individuals will not have previously held a substantively similar teaching post.
This role is designed as a 3-year career development role (beginning on 1 September 2019) for individuals seeking a career in language teaching, and encompasses a 3-year development programme. Individuals will be appointed a mentor and will be expected to develop and maintain their own learning objectives through the programme.
The Lector is responsible for preparing and delivering language teaching within the sub-Faculty, including marking work and participating in oral examinations. They will give 14 hours of classes in each week of term.
Applicants must possess: exceptional fluency in Spanish equivalent to native speaker level; have been recently resident, studying or travelling (for a significant period), in a Spanish-speaking country with a good understanding of the cultural context of the country and its language; have an excellent command of spoken and written English (C1-C2 CEFR level); have experience of teaching Spanish language at an appropriate level, together with an interest in working with a range of modern techniques of language teaching; have experience in teaching translation from English into Spanish; possess an undergraduate degree (taught primarily in Spanish) centred on the study of language, linguistics, and/or literature.
