The English Department at Duquesne University is seeking to fill up to six Teaching Assistant Professor positions to begin in the Fall 2019 semester. These positions will teach a 4-4 load, largely in Duquesne's first-year core and honors writing programs. Additional competence in creative writing (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction), professional and technical writing, online teaching of writing, and/or writing in the health professions is desirable but not necessary. Experience with high-impact educational practices (such as learning communities or community-engaged teaching and learning) is a plus. These are renewable positions with the possibility of advancement but are not eligible for tenure. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Successful candidates must hold a terminal degree (Ph.D. or MFA) in English, rhetoric and composition, creative writing, or a related field by August 15, 2019, and have experience teaching college-level writing. Alternately, successful candidates may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.
