Job Description

The Department of Nursing at Augsburg University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach classroom and clinical courses in our DNP - Family Nurse Practitioner program. These courses are taught both on campus and in the clinical setting.

The openings are for three different position focuses. One is for individuals interested in teaching didactic courses in a hybrid format such as advanced pharmacology, integrative primary care, and advanced pathophysiology. The second is for faculty interested in mentoring and advising students in their DNP scholarly projects. The third is teaching clinical courses, focusing on site visits and an opportunity to precept students in the clinical setting. In addition to teaching online and face-to-face courses and evaluating student competency, instructors are expected to respond to student questions through email and support student success.

Each fall or spring course requires 10-12 hours per week for 15-16 weeks. Teaching in person is a union position covered by a collective bargaining agreement with SIEU, pay starts at $5,550 per course.

This posting is for a pool of instructors. Applicants will be reviewed when there is an opening.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (or in progress) if applying to teach in the didactic courses
  • Masters degree in nursing if applying to teach in the clinical instructor position in the FNP track
  • Licensed and unencumbered registered nurse in the State of Minnesota or eligible for RN licensure in Minnesota.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated passion for functional medicine/integrative health, transcultural nursing, or community health
  • Academic preparation and teaching experience in nursing education.
  • Teaching experience in online, hybrid, and/or in-person formats.
