Position: Adjunct Faculty (In person)
The Ensign College TechLab Cloud Services team operates a student-managed data center supporting the global academic needs of Ensign College and BYU Pathway Worldwide students. In addition to teaching/developing courses, this part-time adjunct role involves up to 6 credit hours to assist in supervising the data center's operations, ensuring dependable cloud hosting and cybersecurity services for students and coursework. This role will assist in overseeing a team of student employees, making critical decisions to sustain secure, efficient cloud infrastructure. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to advancing Ensign College's educational mission.
This position will work directly with the Department Chair of Digital Technology and closely with the Program Chair of Cybersecurity, with on-site responsibilities expected twice weekly.
Role Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise in Cloud Services
Demonstrate advanced proficiency with cloud platforms and cybersecurity practices, specifically AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms. Knowledge of security protocols and data management in cloud environments is essential. - Leadership and Supervisory Skills
Supervise and mentor a team of student employees, guiding them on best practices in cloud operations and cybersecurity. Provide strategic oversight of projects, ensuring alignment with program goals and data center requirements. - Problem-Solving Abilities
Manage and resolve technical challenges within the data center effectively, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruptions to student services. - Communication Skills
Collaborate with students, faculty, and other staff, communicating complex cloud and cybersecurity concepts in a clear and accessible manner to facilitate learning and operational understanding. - Commitment to Academic Support
Uphold and advance Ensign College's mission by fostering an educational environment prioritizing student growth and learning. Support student access to cloud services that enhance the academic experience.
Requirements for Employment Eligibility:
- Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
- Worthiness to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
- Receive clearance from the Church Educational System Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.
- Commitment to bring about the purposes of Ensign College
- Resides in Utah
Minimum Qualifications (for all candidates):
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Expertise in the course content area.
- Experience developing and implementing course content in corporate strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, administrative, organizational, and writing skills.
- Ability to apply field-related skills to developing and advancing course content and delivery.
- Strong desire to help others succeed in their career goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred.
- Proven teaching ability at the college level and an understanding of collaborative learning and competency-based instruction.
- Expertise in a variety of technical disciplines.
