Position Description:

The School of Public Health and Information Sciences is seeking candidates for a temporary, part-time lecturer (PTL) to teach course(s) for Spring 2025.

PHPH-100: Majoring in Public Health

  • Description: This course provides an introduction into the BS/BA Program in Public Health, this course includes topics of general education requirements, curriculum advising, and orientation and career options related to the program.

PHPH-200: Public Health: The Sophomore Experience

  • Description: This course provides students the opportunity to explore their personal and academic goals, campus/community involvement and career planning.

PHPH-220: Introduction to the Health Professions

  • Description: This course variety of health professions (e.g. audiology, dentistry, nursing, medicine, public health, pharmacy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech pathology). The course will discuss how to prepare for a health professions career and assist in validating your interest. Students will learn about various options within the health professions, what positions entail, and the education and knowledge required to be successful.

Other miscellaneous topics as needed

  • Essential topics that impact student success through a range of specialized courses designed to broaden the understanding of university student support services and career options within public health.

Desired Qualifications:

Master's degree, at least 3 years of public health student academic advising experience, at least one semester of classroom teaching experience and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include skill in providing quality instruction and support to a diverse student body and ability to use different learning technologies to enhance student learning.
