Instructional Assistant, Access Center, Cuyahoga Community College
SUMMARY
Provides instructional support for non-credit offerings within the Access Centers at Cuyahoga Community College to aid with educational training that may lead to jobs with family-supporting wages or college degree pathways. Access Centers offer a range of services designed to assist the furthering of education or career.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct one-on-one and small group tutoring in Math, Science, or related subjects virtually or in-person
Conducts educational workshops
Works with and/or demonstrates various types of audio-visual materials, computer applications, and other materials or delivery systems used in an instructional program
Facilitates the learning process by conducting workshops and presentations for students enrolled in high-risk courses
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of two years of experience teaching or tutoring academically underprepared students
Demonstrated previous success in motivating and encouraging students
Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Possess basic knowledge of fundamental Mathematic/English/Science concepts with the ability to apply in various situations
Demonstrated knowledge of exemplary instructional methods and practices
Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively
Demonstrated commitment to providing exemplary customer service
Possess intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail
Ability to prioritize/handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines in a dynamic environment
Ability to work in a fast paced and high volume and service environment
Possess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships
Ability to utilize critical thinking to identify and implement efficiencies within daily operations
Possess knowledge and ability to effectively and appropriately interact with students with varying linguistic and cultural
backgrounds at the post-secondary level

The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
