Purpose of Job

To teach Applied voice lessons for both music majors and non-majors for Soprano and Alto ranges. Adjudicate Voice juries.Scope of Responsibilities

  • Create syllabus, timeline of classes, for students each semester
  • Provide Applied lesson times for all registered students
  • Manage online grading system and submit grades in a timely fashion
  • Abide by all relevant university and/or department procedures and policies

Teach the following course work:

  • MU 121C Applied Voice
  • MU 221C Applied Voice
  • MU 321C Applied Voice
  • MU 421C Applied Voice

Essential Job Functions

  • Organize and schedule applied music lesson times for all registered students
  • Assign appropriate pedagogical and performance literature to all registered applied students
  • Maintain knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the field of study
  • Demonstrate the ability to support, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate applied voice students
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with faculty, staff and students
  • Prepare students for State, Regional, National and International conferences and competitions
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing


Earned Master's degree in Vocal Music Performance or Vocal Music Education, ABD or Doctorate preferred.Licensing and Certifications

PreferredKnowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Candidate should have a strong record of teaching and performance excellence in teaching applied voice at the collegiate levelClose Date
