Associate Teaching Professor: Non Tenure Track

Teaching fiction workshops at all levels of the curriculum, undergraduate and graduate; central roles in administration of the program (could include Director of the Honors program in Creative Writing, career mentoring of younger writers, team leadership for specific sectors of the curriculum, assistance with organizing and moderating the Writers at Rutgers reading series and its offshoot, the Master Classes offered by each visiting reader, and similar).

2-2 proposed load, plus involvement in the administration of the program (see above, principle assignments).

Specific courses: Introduction to Creative Writing (351:211/212), Intermediate Fiction workshop (351:307), Advanced Fiction Workshop (351:407). In addition, this position will teach in the proposed low-residency MFA program (projected start date: 2023).

Expected enrollments in 300-level and 400-level fiction workshops: 15.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University's web site located at Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee's offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

MFA Required

Teaching at the college level required. Experience teaching creative writing to undergraduate students required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will have publications of fiction in nationally recognized venues as well as experience teaching fiction workshops at the college level.
