Department Summary

The Department of Merchandising and Digital Retailing (MDR) prepares students for leadership positions in the dynamic and ever-evolving fashion and retail industries. As new consumer trends collide with innovations in technology, opportunities abound for graduates of our unique degree programs in merchandising, home furnishings merchandising, consumer experience management, digital retailing, and retailing.

Position Summary

The Department of Merchandising and Digital Retailing seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for Fall 2021, Spring 2022, and Summer 2022 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses to develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

The anticipated need is for 1) Profit-centered merchandising (Excel), 2) E-commerce platforms, 3) digital channels, 4) visual merchandising and promotion, 5) digital retail analytics, 6) consumer analytics and visualization, 7) trend analysis and forecasting, 8) consumer behavior, 9) global sourcing, 10) sustainable merchandising, 11) aesthetics and the environment, 12) brand development 13) social psychology of dress, 14) historic costume.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in merchandising or closely aligned field with graduate work or industry expertise in course content.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree required in retail/merchandising or closely aligned area. Industry experience a plus.
