Description The Department of Sociology at Texas A&M University invites applications for a part-time, academic professional track (non-tenure) faculty position at the lecturer level with teaching expertise in gender and social problems and organization studies for Fall 2020. The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level, and advise and mentor undergraduate students. Qualifications The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: A doctoral degree in sociology and experience in different work environments; teaching and research expertise in gender issues and organization studies. proven interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively, professionally, and tactfully interact with others; willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate institutional needs; ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats; ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; ability to work independently and make decisions within the framework of broad goals and objectives; ability to conceptualize, plan, and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively; ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness; ability to research, gather data, compile information, and accurately prepare reports; ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment; ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information; Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: experience working with students in a higher education setting; Research focus on gender issues and sociology of organizations; exceptional written and oral communication skills.
