Part Time/Adjunct Fire Science Instructor



Shift: Day Job Savannah Technical College seeks part-time Adjunct Instructors for the Fire Science Program. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis. Day and evening hours available. Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture and/or laboratory, and may involve split teaching shifts or routine travel between campus locations. This individual is responsible for the following duties (the list is not intended to be exhaustive): Preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction, developing program syllabi, goals and objectives. Evaluating students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Maintaining program certification requirements as appropriate. Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports. Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students. Work diligently to maximize student placements in this field or related fields. Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching days between campus locations. Minimum Qualifications: Firefighting experience of at least 3-5 years in the field. Teaching experience, demonstrated skills in training and/or personnel development. NPQ Firefighter I Fire Instructor I Preferred Qualifications: Firefighter II Certification as a Fire Instructor/Inspector. Five (5) or more years of fire service employment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in the use of MS Office, Word and Excel; Banner proficiency preferred. Experience utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS); experience with the Blackboard LMS platform preferred. Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
