Location Beeville Hours 19 hours/week Job Classification Non-Exempt Salary $28.00/hour Security Sensitive Yes Division Instructional Department Dental Hygiene Reports To Director of Dental Hygiene II. Education Requirements: A minimum of an Associate Degree in dental hygiene, a current Texas dental hygiene license, and at least three years of dental hygiene clinical experience is required. Previous clinical or laboratory teaching experience is preferred. III. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An Associate’s Degree and at least 3 years work experience in the dental hygiene field and a current Texas Dental Hygiene license. 2. Must be able to provide official transcripts and/if transcripts are earned from a foreign teaching institution, then must be able to provide an evaluation indicating that this education is equivalent to or beyond the qualifications required. This evaluation must be from an approved evaluation service. 3. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills. 4. Must be able to demonstrate ability to effectively communicate in a diverse, multicultural student population. 5. Must have commitment to the community college philosophy of education. IV. Essential Functions: The clinical-laboratory hourly dental hygienist has an integral role in the success of Dental Hygiene Students. This person is involved in the formation and implementation of clinical and laboratory skills graduates require as entry-level hygienist. This professional dental hygienist will help create a positive and rewarding clinical/laboratory setting that promote and foster knowledge, skills, and ethical values of the profession. V. Job Responsibilities: The clinical-laboratory hourly dental hygienist will work with dental hygiene course instructors to maintain curriculum standards and faculty-student ratios. Effectively adhere and employ teaching and learning strategies in clinical or laboratory dental hygiene sessions. Assist in using evaluation methods implemented by the department, which fairly measures student progress. Efficiently communicates subject matter content to student during clinical or laboratory sessions. Encourage students in the development of communication skills and knowledge of the dental hygiene discipline. Foster and maintain effective working relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors. Assist in stocking supplies in clinic and laboratory settings. VI. Other Responsibilities: VII.
