Adjunct Civil Engineering Instructor
This position is responsible for teaching classes as assigned by the Academic Dean. Must evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses in accordance with college and division policies and procedures. Must meet Minimum Faculty Standards for hire and adhere to college policies and procedures. Duties include, but are not limited to, teaching classroom lecture courses, curriculum development/restructuring, student success, student recruitment and responsibility for materials and supplies. All candidates interviewed may be required to provide a teaching demonstration. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similiar field OR 6000 hours of work experience OR Possess a combination of education, training, and at least 6,000 hours of recent, relevant tested experience in the field. Expertise should include one of the following areas; surveying, drawing practices CAD, drafting, GPS &GIS, and soils and erosion. Usage of an online learning management system is required. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience is preferred. Strong motivation to work/serve under-prepared students. Additional Qualifications: Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, and ability to work with diverse populations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use a phone. Some travel, by vehicle, may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills with the teaching and learning process, and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred. Hiring process includes ability to pass a background check, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record.
