Harvard Divinity School seeks to appoint an adjunct instructor/lecturer in Elementary Coptic to teach two courses (one course each semester) during the fall and spring semester 2020-21 (online or in person - depending on developments related to COVID-19 in 2020-21). The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students in the two courses on the Coptic language. The course covers basic Sahidic Coptic grammar and syntax, with selected readings from the Coptic Bible and other early texts. The course must be open and accessible to the Divinity School's diverse and multi-religious student body. The appointment title will depend on the finalist's qualifications. Basic Qualifications Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications: (1) completed advanced degree (PhD or ABD candidates preferred), (2) prior experience teaching at the graduate level, and (3) sensibility to a multi-religious, diverse student body. Publications in the field are desirable, though not required. Harvard Divinity School does not provide visa sponsorship for adjunct teaching positions.
