Visiting Math Faculty
At Clarke University, students study more than facts and theories, they explore new ways of thinking. Everything we do is student-focused. For faculty and staff, this means more than just coming to work every day – it means truly collaborating across the university to put student success first. It also means living and working in Dubuque, a thriving city named one of the “most livable” small cities in the country and one of “Best Green Places” in the country.
The Department of Math and Sciences invites applications for a full-time two-year visiting faculty position set to begin August 2020. The rank of this position is open and dependent upon academic credentials and prior teaching experience at the collegiate level. Outstanding candidates in all areas of math will be considered. We are seeking a generalist who will teach geometry, probability and other introductory level courses. The regular teaching load is four courses, or 12 credits, each semester.
A Ph.D. in mathematics or a related discipline is preferred; however, candidates who are ABD will also be considered. Although Clarke University heavily prioritizes teaching in the liberal arts tradition, evidence of professional activity and service are desired. The successful candidate will be required to participate in department and university activities.
To apply, please upload the following documents online at http://clarke.applicantpool.com: letter of interest, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, unofficial transcripts, and three recent letters of recommendation. Confidential letters can be sent to HRLetters@clarke.edu. Applications will be reviewed immediately and will continue until the position is filled. A background check will be required for employment.
