Lecturer - Full-Time (English)
The Writing Program in the English Department at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a Lecturer in creative writing with a distinguished and varied teaching dossier and, ideally, a strong record of publication in fiction and nonfiction. This position would be full-time (a 3/3 teaching load), renewable, and outside of the tenure track, to begin in the fall semester of 2020, pending budgetary approval. MFA or PhD required.
Candidates would ordinarily teach three classes in the Writing Program each term, at both the Introductory and Advanced levels, and to a wide variety of undergraduates (non-majors as well as majors). We are particularly interested in a candidate who has experience using social media, as well as the ability to teach composition, written professional communication, playwriting, and/or humor writing as needed. In addition, we would give preference to a candidate who has experience doing a wide range of service work, which might include serving on departmental committees, assisting with reading series, and/or new course development.
Salary is competitive. The successful candidate will participate actively in of one of the oldest and most established Writing Programs in the country.
