Basic Function:
The School of Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences at Kent State University invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in the area of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS).

Additional Basic Function - if applicable:
The mission of the HDFS program is to prepare students for careers that focus on helping diverse individuals and families to flourish in a global society. We do this by providing excellent teaching, research, and community outreach intended to strengthen families and promote optimal development from birth through late life. Our program focuses on physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development across the lifespan (from conception to late life), interpersonal and family relationships, cultural diversity, and the reciprocal influences of family, school, work and community contexts on human development. Students learn how to work with individuals and families to leverage their strengths and face their challenges and apply these skills to program development, delivery, and evaluation.

The successful candidate must have a commitment to quality teaching, student success and service to the HDFS program. It is anticipated that this position will begin Spring semester of 2020. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester, including introductory level HDFS major requirements (e.g., Introduction to HDFS) and other lower and upper-division courses related to the applicant's areas of expertise that align with the needs of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a master's or doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies or a related discipline, previous experience teaching at the undergraduate level, and previous experience and familiarity with HDFS programs.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
