Frostburg State University, Department of Mathematics, seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer to begin in late January 2020, but starting time in Fall 2020 is negotiable for an ideal candidate. Salary commensurate with experience.

The Department of Mathematics is located in the state-of-the-art Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology opened in 2014. We support a number of academic programs in addition to serving approximately 70 students who major or minor in Mathematics.

Responsibilities: Teach introductory courses. Primary instructional duties will focus on support seminars for students who placed low on the University’s placement exam and co-enroll in a credit-bearing mathematics course. Additionally, assist with program assessment and development of materials to support active learning. Participation in departmental service is expected.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or closely related field required. Must be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.

The department is especially interested in candidates with a clear potential for an inclusive and student-centered teaching style. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to contribute positively to a collegial environment required. Early-career candidates with interest in teaching at a regional comprehensive university are strongly encouraged to apply.
