AdjunctNation wishes to hire higher education freelance writers and investigative journalists who can cover higher education in the U.S., Canada, UK, Mexico and the European Union. Have your work read by hundreds of thousands of readers and viewers around the globe.

Each journalist candidate plans, carefully, edits, and develop story lines. Freelancers work collaboratively across various geographical areas, topics and with a variety of team members to delivers higher education stories for print and online faculty viewers. You will cover all aspects of higher education and produce a variety of stories including news, features, interviews, profiles, and investigative reporting, etc...that are focused on and impact the Adjunct Faculty Nation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Ensures spelling, grammar, syntax and quotes are accurate and correct in stories. Understands and follows AP style. Understands libel and ensures that stories do not contain such material.

•Monitors local newspapers and other media to develop angles on stories of interest to non-tenured college faculty.

•We're particularly interested in freelance writers in and near large cities who can attend major academic conferences (MLA, CCCCs, ACE, AACU, etc...) to develop angles on stories of interest to non-tenured college faculty.

•Independently researches subjects, conducts telephone, face-to-face or email interviews

EDUCATIONAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

•College degree preferred; journalism or communications degree

•Excellent foreign language reading skills a plus

•Ability to learn and use content management systems (WordPress), typing, computer skills, including e-mail and Internet research.

•Excellent grammar and spelling abilities, accuracy, attention to detail, cooperation, organization, time management and problem solving.

COMPENSATION:

Freelance writers are paid for each story published. Per-article payments range from $50-$200 depending on the length, complexity and time involved in producing the news story.
